The portfolio of the independent bottler Boutique-y Whisky Company ranges from single malt whiskies to blended malts and grain whiskies to bourbon. TBWC works with distilleries from Scotland and around the world to create its products. Bunnahabhain, Linkwood, The Glenlivet, Paul John, Mackmyra and Slyrs are just a few examples. Barrels from defunct distilleries, such as the Scottish Cambus Distillery, are also sometimes bottled. All products are small batches that are bottled at cask strength.
The owners Ben Ellefsen and David T. Smith love the unusual. This also applies to the design: graphic designer Emily Chappell researches intensively into stories, backgrounds and fun facts about each distillery and captures them with a wink on the label. On a Glenrothes bottling, for example, they depict the cemetery that is located right next to the distillery - including the ghost that is said to have haunted the distillery a few years ago.
With two other That Boutique-y companies, Ellefsen and Smith also bottle rum and gin and produce their own spirits with great enthusiasm for experimentation. For the "Moonshot Gin", for example, the team flew their botanicals into the stratosphere in a balloon.
