Strathisla Whisky

Strathisla Whisky

Overview Strathisla, founded in 1786, is one of the oldest and most beautiful distilleries in Scotland, located near Keith in the Speyside region. Known for its picturesque architecture and historic gardens, the distillery is often described as "the most photographed distillery in Scotland".

Production Strathisla uses water from the Fons Bullen Well, which is completely peat-free, resulting in a particularly smooth whisky. The distillery has an annual production capacity of 2.4 million litres and uses both oak and sherry casks for maturation. The short and squat pot stills ensure maximum contact between the distillate and the copper, which influences the unique taste.

Range The original bottlings from Strathisla include whiskies of various ages, from 10 to 18 years. The 12-year-old single malt is particularly well-known and has been available almost continuously since 1995. There are also numerous independent bottlings, particularly from Gordon & MacPhail.

History Strathisla was originally founded as the Milltown distillery and has experienced several changes of ownership and reconstruction after fires and explosions over the years. Since 1950 it has belonged to Chivas Brothers and contributes significantly to the production of Chivas Regal.

Visitor Centre The Strathisla Distillery Visitor Centre offers a unique experience with self-guided tours, a comprehensive gift shop and a museum detailing the history of distilling and the region.
