A sampan is a type of ship from Southeast Asia – used by the great seafarers of the 16th century who brought sugar cane from Asia to the Caribbean . Sampan pays tribute to this connection and the basis for the production of sugar cane spirits. Rhum from Vietnam Respect. The premium Rhum Agricole is created in the Distillerie d'Indochine , the lifelong dream of three Frenchmen with years of experience in the wine and spirits business. Also dreamy: their craft distillery is located on the beach in the south of the picturesque coastal town of Hoi An.

It is equipped with high-end equipment from France such as a copper column still, in which in small batches is distilled. The basis is – typically for Rhum Agricole – freshly pressed sugar cane juice from a richly aromatic local variety of sweet grass that grows just 40 km from the distillery. After distillation, the white Rhum Vietnam is stored and slowly diluted with particularly pure osmosis water.

This creates highly aromatic bottlings such as Sampan 43% vol. The Rhum Blanc Agricole seduces with an exotic taste profile that is characterized by lychee and mango, floral notes of white flowers and sweet spices. The intense aromas of the Sampan Overproof with 54% vol. have won multiple gold awards - including recently as Best Asian Rhum at the International Sugar Cane Spirits Awards: floral notes with white pepper, banana and pineapple as well as liquorice in the finish pamper the palate.
