Laballe - that is above all the story of the Laudet family. Since 1820, the house has grown in know-how, innovation, love of the land and the desire to share this. One of Laballe's long-standing strengths is that it does everything itself and on site, from the vine to the wine, from distillation to bottling, in a "single estate" operation. Now in the eighth generation, Cyril and Julie Laudet also promote sustainable viticulture by planting resistant grape varieties such as Baco or combining arable farming with forestry. In doing so, they are setting a precedent for the future: Armagnac is back! Near the small community of Parleboscq, the Laudets cultivate a rare terroir in the Bas-Armagnac growing region called "Les Sables Fauves", which gives the house's Armagnacs freshness and minerality. The portfolio includes the Mono range. Single variety and with a clean design, it appeals to a trend-conscious target group just as much as the range 3 - 12 - 21. Its aim is to rejuvenate the oldest French brandy. Three natural assemblages show the diversity of Armagnac, such as Armagnac 3 ans - Ice, which can be served as an aperitif, pure or in cocktails. Or like the sweet, harmonious and luscious Armagnac 12 ans - Rich, which is best enjoyed neat or with food. Discerning connoisseurs with more experience will find what they are looking for in the house's vintage bottlings. Cask-strong and neither colored nor chill-filtered, they convey the terroir and vintage in a true-to-life manner. The Armagnac 2011 Baco was distilled from 100 percent Baco grapes. This hybrid grape is a cross between the Folle Blanche and Noah varieties. Developed in 1898, the acidic grape is now only grown on a small scale. It gives this vintage a distinctive, full-bodied profile with notes of wood, candied almonds, oranges and pepper. |
