Mountainous landscapes, picturesque beaches, fascinating underwater world: Guadeloupe is a paradise. Even for rum lovers. The archipelago in the Caribbean Sea has a centuries-old distillery tradition thanks to extensive fields of sugar cane. The freshly pressed juice of the sweet grass is used in the French overseas department to produce the finest Rhum Agricole - for example in the Espérance distillery on one of the main islands, Basse-Terre. The oldest distillery on the small Antillean island has been known since the early 2000s for its outstanding bottlings under the name Karukera.

The authentic Rhum Agricole from Karukera is the essence of its region: independently produced from cultivation to bottling from the yields of 70 hectares of sugar cane of the same variety and named after the term that the original inhabitants of Guadeloupe used for their homeland. A diverse range of unaged and aged Rhum Agricole shows what this essence tastes like.
The latter includes Karukera Black Edition Alligator. After 4 years of maturation in French oak barrels, the cuvée is refined in fresh, specially burned oak barrels. The "Alligator Char" of level 4 allows the rum to penetrate deeply and interact with the wood. The effect: brown sugar notes, intense smoky and spicy aromas.
