Cape Breton is one of the few places outside Scotland where Gaelic culture is still alive. In the early 19th century, Scottish emigrants made the Canadian island their home, which, with its scenic beauty, is so similar to Scotland's mainland and islands. The pioneers brought with them customs and skills from their homeland - such as whisky distilling. Glen Breton is part of their tradition.
