Velier is known in the rum scene as a pioneer of authentic experiences. The importer, led by industry leader Luca Gargano, was also a "first mover" when it came to Clairin: The Italians were the first to bottle the locally produced rum from Haiti. Traditionally, it is not aged. However, with the Vieux Sajous series, Velier successfully demonstrates the aging potential of the sugar cane spirit.
The basis for Vieux Sajous 5 yo is organically grown sugar cane of the old Cristalline variety from Saint Michel de l'Attalaye. The distillate, made from freshly pressed juice, matured in tropical conditions in 21 single malt and rum casks and is a showcase for Clairin's aromatic range.
