Tasting Notes

Nose: Inviting aromas of cherry crumble, sultanas and baking spices, with hints of flapjacks and cocoa.

Palate: Layers of summer fruit pudding, raspberry sauce, ginger biscuits and salted caramel with creamy panna cotta and cedar spice.

Aftertaste: Warming impressions of porridge with honey and raisins, pink peppercorns and chocolate-cherry liqueur that linger on the tongue for a long time.

Description

Tomintoul is popular with both beginners and as a relaxed after-work dram. The single malt from the picturesque Cairngorms National Park is considered one of the smoothest whiskies in Speyside. Master distiller Robert Fleming has played a key role in shaping the extremely soft, malty-floral character of Tomintoul - and has created accessible "gentle drams" that are both award-winning and inexpensive.

For the Wood Finish range, he first refines single malts that have been matured in bourbon casks for two years in selected barrels of various different types. The result? Full-bodied, complex single malts at top prices.

The Tomintoul Amarone Cask Finish spent its final two years in wine barrels from Italy, pre-filled with the heavy, full-bodied Amarone. The result is a combination of cherry crumble and ginger biscuits with salted caramel and porridge
