Palate: Complex layers of ginger biscuits, sandalwood, muscovado sugar and white chocolate with hints of dark berries, plum and baking spices.
Finish: Warming spices and toasted oak leading to vanilla custard, milk chocolate and roasted chestnuts.
He succeeds in underlining the smoothness of his whiskies with fruity cask finishes. Oloroso Sherry Casks were used for the limited 2011 edition of the Tomintoul 12 yo. The buttery, sweet single malt was initially matured in bourbon casks. This also applies to the Tomintoul 14 yo, which was then matured in cognac casks to give it delicious notes such as almond pudding, ginger biscuits and chocolate. Liqueur wine casks from the island of Madeira crowned the maturation of the Tomintoul 15 yo. The effect? Juicy layers of chocolate raisins, plum compote, candied fruit peel and tiramisu.

Description
It is considered one of the smoothest whiskies in Speyside: Tomintoul is equally popular with beginners and as a relaxed after-work dram. The single malt from the picturesque Cairngorms National Park has been produced using traditional methods since the distillery was founded in 1964. Robert Fleming has been in charge of Tomintoul's four tall, high-return pot stills for over 20 years. As a fourth-generation master distiller, the distiller has played a key role in shaping the extremely soft, malty-floral Tomintoul character - and creating accessible "gentle drams" that are both award-winning and inexpensive. He succeeds in underlining the smoothness of his whiskies with fruity cask finishes.
