Seychelles delight with Takamaka Pti Lakaz Rum
Less than 100 meters from the dream beach, brothers Richard and Bernard d'Offay distill the Seychelles' first premium rum. They use not only the pure mountain spring water from the main island of Mahé, but also freshly pressed Seychelles sugarcane juice and molasses from the Indian Ocean region.
Takamaka Pti Lakaz authentically demonstrates how both components blend harmoniously. Batch 3 of this unsweetened, unstained, or chill-filtered rum matured in three different cask types: Pot still rum distilled from sugarcane juice was aged for four years in New French Oak and port casks. Column still rum from molasses, meanwhile, was allowed to rest for three and six years in bourbon and port wine casks, respectively. Eight-year-old Foursquare Rum rounds out the small cask-aged Takamaka inventory with full flavor.
With rich fruity notes of sultanas and black cherries on the nose, plums and dried fruits on the palate, and a long finish characterized by dark forest berries and marzipan confectionery with spices, the enjoyment experience transports you to an island paradise.
