Palate: Elegant, invigorating. The oranges from the nose open up with their fresh and tangy juice. The middle palate is more rooty (ginger, gentian) and full-bodied (hot cane sugar). At the end of the palate, a refined apricot aspect (stone) appears.
Finish Long, differentiated. The powdery finish (cocoa, red tea) brings back all the fruits of the nose and palate. The aromas of toffee and oak sticks provide a very consistent mid-palate. The end of the finish is fibrous and vegetal (sugar cane).
Like all releases in the series, the Papalin Réunion 10 yo was created hand in hand with local producers from the raw material to bottling. The original vatted rum from La Réunion marries Grand Arôme rum with 10 to 15 year old traditional rums made from molasses to create an elegant, fresh rum with oranges, ginger, hot cane sugar and apricot.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Elegant, complex. A splendid sequence of orange and chocolate scents sets the tone for a promising tasting on the first nose. When left to breathe, very ripe mango, mineral notes (slate) and hydrocarbon vapors beautifully complement the aromatic palette.Palate: Elegant, invigorating. Under the name Habitation Velier, Velier exclusively assembles pure single rums: they come from a single distillery, are distilled there in pot stills and are the equivalent of the Scottish single malt category.
