Micil Madeira Island Single Pot Still is a whiskey with a double finish. A good two-thirds of the pot still whiskey was stored for eleven months in Madeira wine barrels. The rest rested in peated quarter casks, barrels that previously contained peated distillate. This gave the triple-distilled Irish whiskey an interesting combination of flavors. The typical, spicy notes of the pot still whiskey come to the fore and are pleasantly underlined by dark fruits from the wine finish. This is accompanied by the subtle, tart influence of the smoke aromas. A total of 1,750 bottles with an alcohol content of 46% vol. were bottled. The whiskey was originally stored in ex-bourbon barrels and comes from the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk. Both the whiskey and the barrels for the finish were selected by the Micil Distillery.
