Tasting Notes

Nose: Lush aromas of sticky toffee pudding, black cherries, salted caramel and maple syrup, mixed with dark berries and cocoa powder.

Palate: Lush layers of Black Forest gateau, blackcurrant liquorice, cappuccino and crème caramel, paired with dates, plums and sweet spices.

Aftertaste: Chocolate-cherry liqueur, tart with almond cream (frangipane) and raisins give way to espresso and cozy cake spices.

Description

As small and secret as the Glencadam Distillery is, its range provides variety. Gourmets had to wait around 180 years for original bottlings from the East Highlands distillery. The whiskies, which are up to 38 years old, are produced in two copper pot stills, just like in Glencadam's early days. Due to their construction, they produce a delicate and soft spirit that matures in a variety of high-quality barrels in the traditional Dunnage warehouse.

The distillery's limited releases demonstrate the complex influence of butts, barrels and co. on Glencadam whisky. For the Glencadam 17 yo Reserva PX, master distiller Robert Fleming matured his single malt in small Pedro Ximénez Sherry Quarter Casks - and created an experience that sweetens the dark season with lush notes of Black Forest gateau, coffee, dark berries and dates.
