Bushmills Steamship commemorates the 125th anniversary of the maiden voyage of the steamship SS Bushmills. This steamship belonged to the distillery. With this steamship, the distillery started its US and Asian trade.

This new series was introduced after the sale of Bushmills by Diageo and Jose Cuervo. Bushmills Steamship Rum Cask is the last release from Bushmills' Steamship series. The whiskey was allowed to mature in first-fill Caribbean rum casks.
