Description

What does malt with at least 50 ppm smoke content and maturation in a variety of cask types produce? Variety, depth and multi-dimensional smoky pleasure. This is what the Ballechin brand from "Scotland's Little Gem", the Edradour Distillery, stands for. Largely still made as it was when the legendary distillery of many whisky fans was founded, the Highland single malts from Ballechin are the peatiest thing that Edradour has to offer.
A special single cask bottling celebrates the birthday of Andrew Symington Jr. Distilled on July 25, 2004, the day of his birth, and bottled on July 25, 2024, the heavily peated Ballechin 2004/2024 spent a full 20 years in a single Firsts Fill Port Pipe.
The deep ruby and amber coloured single malt reveals notes of rich black cherries, ripe figs, dried dates and complex spices – harmoniously and skilfully combined with the mature smoke and peat you would expect from Ballechin. A hint of fresh cigars, dark chocolate and antique wood lingers on the finish.
