Velier is known in the rum scene as a pioneer for authentic experiences. The importer, managed by industry giant Luca Gargano, was also a "first mover" when it came to Clairin: the Italians were the first to bottle the locally produced rum from Haiti. Traditionally, this is not allowed to age. With the Vieux Sajous series, however, Velier successfully demonstrates the aging potential of the sugar cane spirit.
The basis for the Vieux Sajous 5 yo is organically grown sugar cane of the old Cristalline variety from Saint Michel de l'Attalaye. The distillate from freshly pressed juice matured in 21 single malt and rum barrels in tropical conditions and is a showcase for the aromatic range of Clairin.
