Description
In 2002, raw spirit was first distilled at Finland's first and largest whisky distillery: Teerenpeli. The smooth, sweet, and sometimes floral whiskies of these Finnish pioneers are so popular that Teerenpeli, with two Forsyth pot stills, produces over 100,000 liters of alcohol annually – powered entirely by renewable energy. An astonishing amount for the sparsely populated Scandinavian country, where the sale and advertising of alcoholic beverages are subject to numerous legal restrictions.
At 15 years old, Teerenpeli 15 yo is the oldest single malt in the distillery's history. Distilled from Finnish barley, it matured in bourbon and sherry casks, blending notes of caramelized apple with vanilla and oak spice.
The limited-edition whisky was the first to be bottled in a new, more environmentally friendly bottle. As part of Teerenpeli's sustainability efforts, the rest of the range will follow. With 40 percent less weight and a 25 percent recycled glass content, the bottles help further reduce the distillery's environmental footprint.
