The experimental distillery produces its single malt Australian whisky using only local ingredients, lets it mature in juicy barrels from famous wineries down under and uses the notorious Melbourne weather (“four seasons in a day”) to bring the epitome of an Australian spirit into the glass.
For great taste, Starward likes to push the boundaries of whisky production – this time to the island of Islay.
The Starward X Lagavulin matured in peated Scottish whisky casks from the world-famous Lagavulin Distillery. Following the characteristic red wine maturation, the Australian single malt spent a further 18 months in the delicious Islay casks.
The result? Perhaps Starward's most exciting limited edition bottling to date. Starward X Lagavulin combines tropical notes of nectarine and dark roasted pineapple with rich, earthy coastal peat and a smoldering, dry oak finish.
And: It gives a taste of the Australians' new design. It is packaged in a high-quality box in Lagavulin green with embossing.
