Tasting Notes

Nose: Strawberry jam, caramel with roasted notes (cinder toffee), syrupy biscuit and cooked fruits with a hint of vanilla and chamomile.

Palate: Hints of mixed berry compote, brandy snaps and custard pastries paired with white pepper, toasted oak and cappuccino.

Finish: Cozy impressions of dark chocolate, raspberries and ginger, which transition to espresso and roasted chestnuts.

Description

Tomintoul is popular with both beginners and as a relaxed after-work dram. The single malt from the picturesque Cairngorms National Park is considered one of the smoothest whiskies in Speyside. Master distiller Robert Fleming has played a key role in shaping the extremely soft, malty-floral Tomintoul character - and has created accessible "gentle drams" that are both award-winning and inexpensive.

For the Wood Finish range, he first refines single malts that have been matured in bourbon casks for two years in selected barrels of various different ages. The result? Full-bodied, complex single malts at top prices.

For the profile of the Tomintoul Tempranillo Cask Finish, which is characterized by strawberry jam, custard pastries, coffee and roasted notes, Fleming finally used barrels that were pre-filled with Spain's most important red wine variety, the dark-fruity Tempranillo.
