In Forres, on the north-west coast of Speyside, a small team of passionate distillers has been reviving a lost style of Speyside single malts since 1998: voluminous and with a hint of smoke. To achieve this, Benromach uses Highland Peat, Distillers' and Brewers' Yeast, very long fermentation times and only first fill casks that are stored in traditional Dunnage warehouses. And: real handcraft.
For the Benromach 21 yo, the cask ratio is reversed. The elegant Speysider unfolds delicious notes of Seville orange, baked apple, sweetness and spice and slowly fades away with soft smoke.
