Volume: 0.7 liters | Alcohol content: 59% | Not chill-filtered | No coloring
In 2017, Kanosuke started operations with three unique pot stills: each differs in the shape of the neck and the angle of the lyne arm. Whether by re-distilling in different stills or blending distillates from the pot still trio: Kanosuke is able (as proven several times at competitions) to create whiskies with great depth and a very smooth texture.
The Kanosuke 2023 Limited Edition is based on peat whisky that was distilled between 2018 and 2019. For maturation, Master Blender Yoshitsugu Komasa and his team used iconic "Mellowed Kozuru" casks as well as sherry casks. The result? An intense, drinkable experience with a sweet, fruity and pleasantly smoky aroma that turns to herbal notes, apple pie and gentle cinnamon spice on the palate, before the whisky finishes long and warm with spicy honey and delicate peat.
Description
The Kanosuke Distillery is located on Fukiagehama, one of the longest sandy beaches in Japan. In the southwest of the country, where the East China Sea meets Japan, the climatic conditions for whisky are ideal: mild summers and wild, windy winters ensure that the distillates mature quickly. Critics around the world agree: after just a short time, the bottlings taste many times more mature than their age would suggest. They are stored primarily in freshly burned American oak casks that were pre-filled with the parent company's celebrated "Mellowed Kozuru" shochu. In 2017, Kanosuke started operations with three unique pot stills: each differs in the shape of the neck and the angle of the lyne arm.
