Tasting Notes

Nose: Cedarwood and cigar box, with butterscotch, mocha and orange peel, with hints of honey and plum jam.

Palate: Rich dark chocolate, smoked honey and mocha, followed by fig syrup, beet syrup and burnt sugar, with a hint of peat smoke on the finish.

Description

Since autumn 2024, the team around the industry veteran has been pursuing the ambitious goal of creating a peated Speyside single malt with Meikle Tòir (pronounced "Mee-kuhl Tor") that is second to none. The smoky style, rare for the whisky region, is based on mainland peat from St. Fergus, which, unlike island peat, imparts sweeter smoky notes with oak tones.

In addition to standards such as the complex Meikle Tòir - The Original with 35 ppm or the Meikle Tòir - The Sherry One, which combines full fruit notes with peat smoke, Meikle Tòir - The Turbo is part of the range. The 2024 release of the extremely limited single malt is now available. Blended from the distillate with the highest phenol content, it matured in five virgin oak casks and four Oloroso sherry hogsheads to create a multifaceted whisky with a strong portion of peat, reaching a whopping 70 ppm.
