Description
The Balvenie 'Week of Peat' was an idea by Distillery Manager Ian Millar in 2002. Millar spotted a gap in the distillery's schedule one week. Eager to experiment with The Balvenie's profile, he ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln and built a peat burner to the side for extra peatiness.This is how the plan was born to produce only smoky distillate for a week once a year. Based on the smoky Speyside style of the 30s and 40s, this plan has been successfully implemented ever since.
