Tasting Notes
Nose: Complex and expressive. Fruity (orange, grapefruit, juicy pear), herbaceous, slightly peaty.
Palate: Round and fine. Malty, spicy (cardamom), fruity (candied fruit).
Finish: Long. Fruity and bitter (citrus fruits, dark chocolate), slightly peaty.
Description
A blended malt named after Nikka's founder, Masataka Taketsuru, this whisky marries casks from Yoichi and Miyagikyo, Nikka's two distilleries, and is characterized by an exquisite balance between great smoothness and deep complexity.
Worth knowing:
- Mash: 100% malted barley
- Main influence during maturation: ex-sherry casks and newly assembled American oak casks
- a blend of Miyagikyo Pot Still Malt and Yoichi Pot Still Malt
