The Tobermory 1995/2024 was filled into red wine casks by Murray McDavid's founding team led by Mark Reynier, while the Bowmore 2001/2024 spent its final 15 years in port pipes. The "tea-spooned" blended malt The Fiddichside 1989/2024, distilled on the Fiddich River in Speyside, and the Highlander Macduff 1997/2024 were treated to long years in (fortified) wine casks.
Discerning palates will also find six to 15 year-old experiences from Speyside, the Highlands, the islands and the Isle of Islay in the Benchmark series.
From the rare Speysider Allt-a-Bhainne 2009/2024 single malt to the smoky Ledaig 2009/2024 from rum casks of the closed Uitvlugt distillery to the Caol Ila 2014/2024, whose fresh profile was complemented by notes of candied apples and salted caramel from small Koval Rye Casks: these single malts set standards in the art of cask maturation.
There are also secretive Highlanders to discover, including the heavily peated Safe Haven 2014/2024 and the lush, dark-fruited Juniper Hill 2015/2024.
The duo in blue also demonstrates the dimensions of single grain whisky: the Invergordon 2009/2024 through a finish in Caol Ila casks, the North British 2007/2024 through refinement in floral-fruity Sauternes wine barriques.
