The Isle of Raasay Hebridean Distillers are the first to legally distill whisky on the small Isle of Raasay. And: The single malt from the pioneering distillery is matured in a cask composition that is new to Scotland. The recipe "Na Sia" (Gaelic for "the six") combines peated and unpeated raw spirits, which are matured separately in three types of casks: First Fill Rye Whiskey Casks, Virgin Chinkapin Oak Casks and First Fill Bordeaux Red Wine Casks.

With the Na-Sia series, Raasay makes the six components of the recipe available as cask-strength single casks every two years - the unpeated casks in the first half of the year, the peated casks in the second half. For whisky fans? A rare chance to see how the Hebridean malt continues to develop.

The Peated First Fill Rye Whiskey Single Cask matured in barrels from the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky, where 53 percent rye is used in the mash. These develop exciting pepper, sweet spice and butterscotch notes in the peated Raasay single malt, which is characterized by wood smoke.
