MARS KASEI - Blended Whisky
Volume: 0.7 liters | Alcohol content: 40% | Non-chill-filtered | No coloring
Description
Distillery Manager Koki Takehira creates balanced, smooth, and very complex whiskies that are strongly reminiscent of their Scottish cousins. The Mars Shinshu distillery uses various grain varieties for its spirits – from unpeated to heavily peated. The current range primarily consists of younger single and blended malts. This is no coincidence: From 1992 to 2011, the distillery's pot stills were empty due to the whisky crisis in Japan. With the recovery of the whisky market, the distillery resumed production – and has since continued to surprise with diverse whisky creations – including the Mars "Kasei":
"Kasei" – Japanese for "Mars" – is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whisky. This fruity-sweet whisky captivates with aromas of honey, green apples, and white grapes, with a slightly smoky finish.
