Nikka Yoichi 10 yo Single Malt
Volume: 0.7 liters | Alcohol content: 45% | Chill-filtered | No coloring
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh and herbaceous. Fruity notes of apricot and banana and subtle peat aromas lead to strong pastry notes.
Palate: Soft, lively and peppery. The peat fades behind creamy pastry flavors.
Finish: Long and dry. Earthy, maritime aromas of moorland balance oak flavors.
Description
If you want to get to the roots of Japanese whisky at Scottish level, you have to travel to the island of Hokkaido. In the cold, wet north of Japan, Yoichi, the first Nikka distillery, has been producing genuine single malt with fine smoky notes since the mid-1930s.
Distilled over coal fires in small pot stills just one kilometer from the Sea of Japan, Yoichi Single Malt is characterized by delicate salty notes, power, oiliness and peat smoke with up to 20 ppm. While the distillery's flagship product, Yoichi Single Malt, is permanently available, only a few bottles of Yoichi 10 yo are available each year. The new batch is now ready to fill nosing glasses with aromas of herbs, soft pastry notes and fruity and earthy notes.
