Description

Micil Inverin Small Batch Whiskey , Blended Whiskey, Vol.: 46%

In 2016, Pádraic Ó'Griallas opened the first distillery in Galway in 100 years after his great-great-great-grandfather built the family's first illegal distillery in Connemara. Micil Mac Chearra is also the namesake of today's Micil Distillery. They are now bringing their first two whiskeys onto the market. These are still purchased whiskeys, but they have already started producing their own whiskeys.

Micil Inverin Small Batch Whiskey is a blended whiskey made up of five different components: 20% grain stored in virgin oak, 45% grain from the ex-bourbon barrel, 20% triple distilled peated malt, 10% double distilled malt and 5% triple distilled malt. The whiskey also received three different finishes: 47.5% of the blend was finished in re-charred ex-bourbon casks, 47.5% of the blend was finished in PX sherry casks and the last 5% was finished in a Micil Heritage Poitin chestnut cask and PX sherry cask.

This whiskey is reminiscent of the fruity spiciness of the original "water of life" from Connemara and the peat smoke from the illegal stills and ovens in Inverin. An exceptional blended whiskey that is by no means boring.
