Blackwater Wexford Strawberry Gin , Gin, 40% Vol.,

Blackwater Distillery wanted to create a new but honest gin and not write Seasonal Gin or something else on the bottle purely for marketing purposes. Strawberries were used for this gin - lots of strawberries, in fact, because strawberries are mostly made up of water and what happens when you distill water is that you get even more water, so you need lots and lots of strawberries to get the flavour. All of the strawberries used were grown in Wexford, then frozen and brought to the Blackwater Distillery in Cappoquin. There they were steeped in alcohol for 48 hours to filter out the full flavour. The whole strawberries are chopped up and distilled together. After distillation, more strawberries and blackcurrants are added to create the beautiful rose.

It is recommended to serve neat or with tonic water, a strawberry and some black pepper.
