Description

Up to 41 years old Jamaican Rum:
Secure independent rarities in advance!

Jamaica is not only home to some of the oldest active rum distilleries in the world. The bottlings from the Caribbean island represent a celebrated style: incredibly aromatic and with a high ester content. The Belgian independent bottler The Nectar is now bringing two of these legendary rums to connoisseurs with the highest demands. Matured for 40 and 41 years, the two single casks are true legends in their own right.

The Hampden HGML 1983/2024 comes from the Hampden Estate distillery. The extensively wild fermented, pot still distilled high ester rums from the distillery, founded in 1753, are highly valued by connoisseurs around the world. Bottled under the HGML marque (Hampden George MacFarquhar Lawson), this rarity is one of the rums with an impressive ester content of 1000-1100 g/hlpa. Lovers will experience a correspondingly intense profile of exotic fruits such as pineapple, "funky" notes of solvent and rubber, intoxicating flowers and sweet spices.

In addition to column stills that were installed later, the Clarendon Distillery, which opened in 1949, also uses classic pot stills to produce heavy, high-quality rum with ester notes. The Clarendon 1984/2024 is a rare, extremely sumptuous find. Anyone who can secure one of the 90 bottles for themselves will encounter notes of wine gum and dried orange peel, hints of undergrowth and mushrooms, muscovado sugar, baking spices and black pepper.
