Fans know the Harz single malt The Journey as an annual new edition. Now the Hercynian Distilling Co. is adding a standard to its flagship - and for the first time with an age statement. The Journey 12 yo marks the proud beginning of this whisky journey.
For the new stage, the whisky, distilled from barley and chocolate malt, matured exclusively in first fill casks that had been pre-filled with sherry, port, Marsala and Málaga. Instead of the 43% ABV usual for the vintage editions, Batch 1 was bottled at the ideal drinking strength of 46% ABV. The effect: a delight from the highest mountains in northern Germany - darker, fuller and many times more complex.
