Description
From the Douro to the Elsbach Valley: Full maturation in port wine barrels
Around ten percent: This is the proportion of port wine barrels in the impressive wood portfolio of the Hercynian Distilling Co. In addition to precise manual work during distillation, barrel management is one of the major pillars of the quality of their single malt whisky.
The ElsBurn Ruby Port Cask was allowed to fully mature in Portuguese barrels. They were pre-filled with Ruby Port wine. This is characterized by a rich ruby red color. And by wonderful, dark fruit notes. The liqueur wine develops both after a short time in mostly large wooden barrels.
Transported from the Douro Valley, the oldest wine-growing region in the world with a protected designation of origin, to the Elsbach Valley in the Harz Mountains, they give the limited edition single malt notes of dried fruit, wild berries and gentle tannins.
