Palate: A powerful start with Pedro Ximénez spice, dark chocolate and rum raisins. This is followed by a hint of fresh dark grapes and strongly caramelized crème brûlée. Slightly astringent at the end.

Finish: Medium-long, with fine Pedro Ximénez spice, some dark chocolate and dark fruits.

Description

Discerning connoisseurs know him: Michel Reick, the whisky druid. As the owner of four established brands, the independent bottler is unique in the scene. For his best dram bottlings, he selects limited single casks personally and on site in Scotland. Always at cask strength, never chill-filtered or colored, the range includes age-statement whiskies as well as a diverse selection of cask-finish bottlings.

His new discovery catapults whisky fans to the beautiful Speyside. With the GlenAllachie 2014/2024, the Druid has secured a Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead from one of the few independent whisky distilleries in Scotland. The nine-year-old single malt fuses sherry spice with dark chocolate, rum raisins and strongly caramelized crème brûlée and is a tribute to the art of the living master blender legend Billy Walker.
