Cognacs from the Vallein Tercinier house have been delighting the palates of discerning connoisseurs for five and six generations . Around the small community of Chermignac, the mostly Ugni Blanc vines thrive on various "crus". From these, Vallein Tercinier distills and blends (sometimes with purchased eaux-de-vie) the finest, yet affordable cognacs for both category connoisseurs and newcomers - including an increasing number of whisky fans . The family business has been winning over the latter group of connoisseurs for some time now with precious, unadulterated single casks from the house's extensive and decades-old stock .

One of the cognac rarities is the 24-year-old Cognac Trés Vieux 1998 . The single cask made from Petite Champagne grapes celebrates an aroma festival in nose and palate – with, among others, exotic fruits, vanilla, plum, cinnamon and pepper . Distilled for the 1972 harvest, the Cognac Trés Vieux Lot 72 has complex aromas such as cocoa and saffron, resulting in a pleasant mouthfeel that is carried by sweetness and freshness and slowly fades away with slightly smoky notes .
Senior of the round: Cognac Trés Vieux Lot 66 . Only 287 bottles are left after around 56 years in the French oak barrel. Its contents pamper the nose with elegant spice and tropical fruit, while the palate shows its powerful side with cocoa, liquorice and complex fruit notes .
