Roe & Co Blended Irish Whiskey 0.7l
Roe & Co Irish Whiskey , Blended Whiskey, Vol.: 45%
The name Roe & Co goes back to George Roe, once a world-famous whiskey distiller who played a key role in bringing Irish whiskey through a truly golden era in the 19th century. The George Roe and Co distillery was not only Ireland's largest whiskey exporter, but also the direct neighbour of the Guinness brewery, the other big name in Dublin's historic brewery and distillery district. Due to Prohibition in America and cheaper competition from Scotland, the traditional distillery had to close in 1926. The only relics of the historic site are St. Patrick's Tower and the pear tree growing at its foot - both symbols that are included in Roe & Co to tell the moving story of George Roe.
Roe & Co Irish Whiskey consists of a combination of Irish malt and grain whiskeys hand-picked by master blender Caroline Martin - matured in bourbon barrels, not cold-filtered and bottled at 45% ABV, which makes it an interesting example among whiskeys. The elegant blend has the typical smoothness of an Irish whiskey and at the same time has a surprising depth of taste. The high proportion of first fill barrels gives it a note of creamy vanilla, balanced by fruity nuances and light spice aromas.
