In Forres, on the north-west coast of Speyside, a small team of passionate distillers has been reviving a lost style of Speyside single malts since 1998: voluminous and with a hint of smoke. To achieve this, Benromach uses Highland Peat, Distillers' and Brewers' Yeast, very long fermentation times and only first fill casks that are stored in traditional Dunnage warehouses. And: real handcraft.
The Contrasts series lives up to its name and experiments with single malts that are outside the usual Benromach range. For example, Benromach Contrasts: Organic is distilled from unpeated organic barley malt and matures in virgin oak casks. The first ever organic-certified single malt Scotch is a sweet, accessible experience with notes of vanilla, toast, banana, milk chocolate and spices.
