In this new edition, the Danish dram takes Stauning's exotic bastard from mezcal casks to the next level. The single rye whisky underwent a triple maturation process: First, it was stored for three to four years in American virgin oak barrels, then aged in mezcal and tequila casks, and finally finished in stout casks from the Danish craft breweries "To ØI" and "Fanø Bryghus."
Those who manage to secure one of the 6,530 bottles will be rewarded with grains, cinnamon, cocoa, and tobacco on the nose, dark chocolate and vanilla, roasted nuts and chili, and dark beer, hops, and roasted malt on the palate. The bottle, featuring the hairless Mexican dog Xolotzcuintle (Xolo) and selected notes, was once again designed by Danish tattoo artist Thit Hansgaard.

Description
A spirit of adventure and a love of experimentation are at least as much a part of Stauning's DNA as the regional ingredients from Denmark's west coast, malting on its own malt floor, and distillation in 24 small, direct-fired pot stills.
