With a complete overhaul, the distillery returns to its roots: the exploration of the unknown. The Australian distiller's bottlings are more minimalist, more sophisticated, and more modern. Featuring a logo that stretches like a road beyond the horizon, pointing to the challenges and opportunities that lie beyond.
The new core range consists of four bottlings. The Hellyers Road Aurora Australis introduces connoisseurs to the distillery's world – with caramel and shortcrust pastry aromas, notes of meadow grass, pine, and raisins, as well as a hint of campfire coal. Finishing in Pinot Noir casks from Tasmania's Coal River Valley gives the Hellyers Road Double Cask a robust, full-bodied character with lively notes of raisins, fruit compote, and candied orange, as well as a hint of cloves.
Hellyers Road The Journeyman blends a triple distilled single malt aged twelve years in bourbon and five years in port casks to create a distinctly sweet and floral experience of honey, jam, herbal notes and orange blossom.
One of Australia's oldest age-statement single malts, Hellyers Road Voyager Cask 19 yo blends luscious fruit with rich wood and a hint of citrus for a long and indulgent finish. Distilled in 2003, it was transferred to American oak casks, where it patiently matured for 16 years. The final maturation took another three years in a single French oak cask that had previously contained wine and liqueur.
Description
When Henry Hellyer set foot in northwest Tasmania in 1825, Australia's largest island was unexplored territory. Tasked with exploring the region, the British explorer and cartographer cut a road into the Tasmanian bush. Today, Hellyer's Road is home to the whisky distillery of the same name. Founded in 1997, it is one of the first distilleries to open in Tasmania after approximately 150 years of prohibition-related stagnation – and the epicenter of Australian whisky production. With a complete overhaul, the distillery returns to its roots: the exploration of the unknown.
