The Liberator Tawny Port Finish Batch 5, Vatted Whiskey , 46% Vol.,
The Liberator Tawny Port Finish is a very special whiskey. It is a so-called vatted malt, a whiskey that has been blended from two different single malt whiskeys.
22% of the single malt comes from the Cooley Distillery and is 15 years old. The remaining 78% is a single malt from the Great Northern Distillery. These single malt whiskeys matured in bourbon barrels, were blended and then the whiskey was allowed to go into a very fresh tawny port cask. The O'Connell family is friends with a winery in Portugal, so it is possible to refill the barrel within a few weeks. This ensures that the barrel does not dry out and the whiskey gets the best finish. The whiskey then matures in this barrel for another 9-12 months.
The whiskey is not colored or chill-filtered and is limited to 1000 bottles.
