Straw Boys Irish Vodka ,Vodka, 40% Vol.,
The name "Straw Boys" celebrates an old tradition in Irish history. A tradition that has to do with Ireland's love of partying, love of a good drink and love of friends and family.
This tradition became a must, especially when there was a wedding coming up in the family, circle of friends or the neighbourhood. "Straw Boys", who covered their faces with a large, pointed straw hat, came by "uninvited" and crashed the wedding, danced with the bride and groom, had a quick drink with the couple and then disappeared as quickly as they had come. The appearance of a "Straw Boy" at a wedding was supposed to bring the bride and groom luck.
The humble potato is often associated with Ireland, so it was a natural choice to produce a Straw Boys Vodka. However, the Connacht distillery is located in the west of Ireland, where potato cultivation is not widespread. So the Connacht distillery decided to use barley for its vodka.
