The time has come, the first whiskey from the Connacht Distillery is here. It has been 150 years since there was a whiskey from County Mayo. The Connacht Distillery began distilling its single malt whiskey in 2016. To distill its whiskeys, they only use Irish barley from County Wexford. Here they work with local farmers who grow the barley for the distillery.

Connacht Whiskey Batch 1 is a double-distilled single malt whiskey that was distilled in copper pot stills from the Canadian equipment manufacturer Specific. After the whiskey matured for almost four years in former bourbon barrels, the best barrels were selected and then finished in 500-litre sherry barrels. The most suitable barrels were then further selected, from which Batch 1 was finally blended. All of the whiskeys selected for this are at least four years old, some even almost five, and thus come from the first weeks of production at the new distillery.
