Description
Located on Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake, is the island nation's smallest whisky distillery. Founded in 2016, Nagahama is part of a new generation of Japanese distilleries – and a response to the growing demand for premium domestic products. In just 26 square meters, the team led by master blender Takashi Kiyoi distills the malty whisky spirit. The equipment is adapted to the space: Nagahama works with the smallest pot stills in Japan. The alembic stills ensure added fullness and depth.
The craft distillery's aged stocks are still small. For its Amahagan World Blends, Nagahama combines its own spirit with select malt whiskies from around the world. Following four bottlings with different cask finishes, the Amahagan World Malt – Peated Edition now complements the series.
