Cognacs from the Vallein Tercinier house have been delighting the palates of discerning connoisseurs for five and six generations. Around the small community of Chermignac, the mostly Ugni Blanc vines thrive on various "crus". From these, Vallein Tercinier distills and blends (sometimes with purchased eaux-de-vie) the finest, yet affordable cognacs for both category connoisseurs and newcomers - including an increasing number of whisky fans. The family business has been winning over the latter group of connoisseurs for some time now with precious, unadulterated single casks from the house's extensive and decades-old stock.
The 24-year-old Cognac Trés Vieux 1998 is one of the cognac rarities. The single cask made from grapes from the Petite Champagne celebrates an aroma festival in the nose and palate - with exotic fruits, vanilla, plum, cinnamon and pepper, among others. Distilled for the 1972 harvest, the Cognac Trés Vieux Lot 72 leads from complex aromas such as cocoa and saffron to a pleasant mouthfeel that is carried by sweetness and freshness and slowly fades away with slightly smoky notes.
