Tasting Notes

Nose: Full-bodied and exciting. Mint, ripe mango and dry earth form a subtle and precise first sequence of aromas. Quince jelly, blackberry and orange marmalade then add a stronger accent.

Palate: Clear and lively. The flavor palette is initially lush tropical (coconut, mango, passion fruit) and matches the nose perfectly. Alternating between warm and fresh sequences, aromas of chocolate drops, slate and peppermint tea emerge.

Aftertaste: Full-bodied and invigorating. The intense finish is reminiscent of herbaceous (Havana cigar) and peppery notes. Various infusions of red fruits and marshmallow provide freshness. The finish becomes increasingly intense and culminates in cranberry and raisin notes.

Description

Founded in 1753, Hampden Estate has been distilling in the Trelawny region, the "Grand Cru" of Jamaican rum, for almost three centuries. The distillery's heavy, unadulterated pure single pot still rums are known around the globe. Their full-bodied taste with highly aromatic ester notes is guaranteed by five strictly defined production methods - including fermentation with wild yeasts and maturation for at least eight years in Jamaica's tropical climate.

Hampden Great House 2024, a blend that has been re-released every year since 2019, is the sixth work in the series of the same name. The bottling is a tribute to the distillery's Great House, the prestigious villa built in 1779 by the Stirling family, the owners. The Distillery Edition 2024 expresses the unmistakable style of the Jamaican cult rum by combining several marques from three different vintages: the freshness of mint meets lush tropical fruits, mineral slate tones, chocolate and intense raisin notes.
