Description

The Isle of Raasay Hebridean Distillers are the first to legally distill whisky on the small Isle of Raasay. And: The single malt from the pioneering distillery is matured in a cask composition that is new to Scotland. The recipe is called “Na Sia” (Gaelic for “the six”) combines peated and unpeated raw spirits, which mature separately in three types of casks: First Fill Rye Whiskey Casks, Virgin Chinkapin Oak Casks and First Fill Bordeaux Red Wine Casks.

With the Na-Sia series, Raasay makes the six components of the recipe available as cask-strength single casks every two years – the unpeated casks in the first half of the year, the peated casks in the second half. For whisky fans? A rare chance to experience how the Hebridean malt was further developed.

The Peated First Fill Bordeaux Red Wine Single Cask matured in red wine barrels fresh from the "châteaus" in the southwest of France. The wood smoke is complemented by lush notes of dark and dried fruits and BBQ ribs, which combine harmoniously with maritime influences.
