Keith Bonnington is one of those people for whom whisky is the elixir of life. Based in Edinburgh, he bottles the finest whiskies under the company name The Whisky Cellar. An experienced group of tasting professionals supports him in this. The latest seven bottlings, some of which have been elegantly matured, prove that the concentrated skills and fine palates pay off.
The latter is particularly true for the Pintail series, with which the bottler has specialized in non-Scottish and unusual Scottish whiskies finished in wine casks. The Pintail Indiana Rye Whiskey 6 yo owes notes of caramelized pecans and apricots to an Oloroso finish. Finished in a Marsala cask, the Pintail Blair Athol 12 yo is fruity, ripe and peppery, while the Pintail Teaninich 15 yo balances mint tea and exotic fruits after spending time in a French fortified wine cask.
