variety of Edradour & Ballechin
The portfolio of the Edradour Distillery is as varied as its long history (the distillery once belonged to the New York Mafia, for example). Managed by Signatory Vintage founder Andrew Symington, the independent Highland distillery uses equipment from the 19th century to produce handmade premium single malt - some with a variety of finishes or from malt with at least 50 ppm smoke content.
Blended from eight bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength, the Edradour 21 yo is an outstanding example of this classic type of maturation. It enriches typical Edradour attributes with soft vanilla, mandarin and coconut aromas.
The Ballechin 15 yo, on the other hand, demonstrates the harmony of peat smoke and fruit. The "heavily peated" single malt matured for 26 months in barrels that previously contained orange wine from the Andalusian province of Huelva. This liqueur wine is flavored with local bitter oranges. Smoky citrus fruits meet grilled stone fruit and mature, maritime smoke.
For the new batch of Ballechin 18 yo, sherry casks were used alongside bourbon this time. Extensively matured, the Highlander marries peat smoke with oak spice and creates a delicious balance with malt candy, dark fruits and chocolate.
