Rare and exceptional whiskies can be discovered at Mission Gold. The Tobermory 1995/2024 was filled into red wine barrels by Murray McDavid's founding team around Mark Reynier, while the Bowmore 2001/2024 spent its final 15 years in port pipes. The "tea-spooned" blended malt The Fiddichside 1989/2024, distilled on the Fiddich River in Speyside, and the Highlander Macduff 1997/2024 were given many years in (liqueur) wine barrels.
In the Benchmark series, discerning palates will also find experiences from Speyside, the Highlands, the islands and the Isle of Islay that have been aged for six to 15 years.
From the rare Speysider Allt-a-Bhainne 2009/2024 as a single malt, to the smoky Ledaig 2009/2024 from rum barrels of the closed Uitvlugt distillery, to the Caol Ila 2014/2024, whose fresh profile was complemented by notes of candied apples and salted caramel from small Koval Rye Casks: the single malts set standards in the art of barrel maturation.
With the heavily peated Safe Haven 2014/2024 and the lush, dark-fruited Juniper Hill 2015/2024, there are also secretive Highlanders to discover.
The duo in blue also shows the dimensions of single grain whisky: the Invergordon 2009/2024 through a finish in Caol Ila barrels, the North British 2007/2024 through refinement in floral-fruity Sauternes wine barriques.
