Description

When Henry Hellyer set foot in the northwest of Tasmania in 1825, Australia's largest island was unexplored territory. Tasked with exploring the region, the British explorer and cartographer cut a road into the Tasmanian bush. Today, Hellyers Road is the site of the whisky distillery of the same name. Founded in 1997, it is one of the first distilleries to open in Tasmania after around 150 years of prohibition-related standstill - and the epicenter of Australian whisky production.

With a complete renovation, the distillery is going back to its roots: the exploration of the unknown. The Australians' bottlings are more minimalist, more valuable and more modern. With a logo that stretches like a road beyond the horizon, to the challenges and opportunities that lie beyond.

The new core range consists of four bottlings. The Hellyers Road Aurora Australis introduces connoisseurs to the world of the distillery - with caramel and shortcrust pastry aromas, notes of meadow grass, pine and raisins as well as a hint of campfire coal. The refinement in Pinot Noir casks from the Tasmanian Coal River Valley gives the Hellyers Road Double Cask a powerful, full-bodied character with lively notes of raisins, fruit compote and candied oranges as well as a hint of cloves.

Hellyers Road The Journeyman marries triple distilled single malt aged for twelve years in bourbon and five years in port casks to create a distinctly sweet and floral experience of honey, jam, herbal notes and orange blossom.

One of Australia's oldest age-stated single malts, Hellyers Road Voyager Cask 19 yo combines luscious fruit with fine wood and hints of citrus for a long and indulgent finish. Distilled in 2003, it was filled into American oak casks where it was patiently aged for 16 years, before being finished in a single French oak cask that previously held wine and liqueur for a further three years.
